Itinerary 3 days Tour From Marrakech to desert
Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley
Your adventure begins early in the morning with a private pickup from your riad or hotel in Marrakech. You leave the bustling city behind and ascend into the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), the highest road pass in Morocco. Along the way, you stop to admire panoramic views, Berber villages clinging to the mountainsides, and snow-capped peaks in winter.
Your first major highlight is the legendary Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic earthen fortresses. You explore its narrow alleys, ancient towers, and learn about its role as a caravan stop and filming location for famous movies and series.
After lunch near Ait Ben Haddou, the journey continues through Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert,” and along the scenic Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. You pass palm-filled oases and traditional villages before entering the dramatic landscapes of the Dades Valley, famous for its rock formations and winding roads.
Overnight: Charming hotel or riad in Dades Valley
Dinner included
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todgha Gorge – Erfoud – Merzouga – Camel Trek
After breakfast, you travel through the beautiful Dades Canyon, stopping to admire its towering cliffs and unique geological formations. The road then leads you to the impressive Todgha Gorge, where massive limestone walls rise up to 300 meters, creating one of Morocco’s most dramatic natural sites. You enjoy free time to walk through the gorge and experience its refreshing atmosphere.
Continuing east, the landscape gradually transforms into arid plains and desert scenery. You pass through Erfoud, known for its fossils and date palms, before reaching Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara and home to the legendary Erg Chebbi dunes.
In the late afternoon, you switch vehicles for a camel trek across the golden dunes. As the sun sets, the Sahara reveals its most magical colors—an unforgettable moment of silence and beauty. You arrive at your desert camp, where Berber hospitality awaits.
After a traditional dinner, you gather around the campfire, enjoying Berber music under a sky filled with stars, far from any city lights.
Overnight: Authentic or luxury desert camp in Merzouga
Dinner & breakfast included
Day 3: Merzouga – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
You wake early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Sahara dunes, one of the most memorable moments of the tour. After breakfast at the camp, you return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4 and begin the journey back to Marrakech.
The route follows the lush Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river valley, lined with endless palm groves and ancient kasbahs. You stop for photos and short walks to appreciate the contrast between green oases and desert landscapes.
After passing again through Ouarzazate and crossing the High Atlas Mountains, you arrive in Marrakech in the evening, where your desert adventure comes to an end with a drop-off at your accommodation.
